Florence Sights (Feb 3, 2025)

As I've written before, this trip is not like any other we have taken.  That means doing laundry when we can, eating out less often, not buying so many souvenirs--otherwise, watching the budget more carefully.  Sometimes, instead of starting first thing in the morning we start touring in the afternoon--and that's what we did today so we could see Florence at sunset.

Palazzo Nasi Quaratesi

Tower of San Niccolò.  I would've climbed it bit it was closed.

The point of today's journey was to go to Piazzalle Michelangelo and the tower was located near the beginning of the path to the top of the hill where it's located.

View of the Cathedral (Duomo) on the way up.

View at the top.  Now I know where all those pictures you see online were taken.

Bronze replica of Michelangelo's David in the plaza.

The climb wasn't steep but it was long, although I am very glad we did it.  The views were amazing and I think we got some good pictures.  Once it got dark everyone started leaving (we weren't the only ones with this idea) and we took a bus back to the apartment.  Money well spent, and that includes the focaccia we got for dinner at the place next door.

A trip to a famous nearby town is on the agenda for tomorrow.  Can you guess which one?
