Cascais is a town along the coast about 32 km (20 mi) from Lisbon. We planned on taking the subway to the train station to get there but the Lisbon Metro had a scheduled strike so we took an Uber to the station instead. Our Brazilian driver didn't speak much English and (as you know) my Portuguese isn't very good, but we managed to communicate---it was fun. He was pleased there was a strike since he was making a lot of money.
We bought our train tickets at the Cais do Sodre train station--only about $6 for both of us! It wasn't an express so there were several stops along the way but that's OK since we got to see some places we might visit in the future.

I found out that Cascais is known as Portugal's Riviera. That may be--I could see that there was money here--but it also had a small-town feel that I thought was really nice.

Just a house we saw walking around town.

Another reason we came by Cascais was to meet up with Fe's former colleague from her job at Ahold. He and his wife moved here a couple of years ago and we wanted to compare notes and get some advice. We met for lunch and they kindly showed us around, which is how I got these great pics.
I am the odd one out here--I never worked for Ahold!
This was a full day so we headed back on the train and had a light dinner (at Portugalia again) and then back to the hotel. I'm not getting any younger, you know
