We landed in Lisbon Airport (LIS) around 830 am after an overnight flight from Philadelphia. The plane was a Boeing 787 and the flight was pretty smooth. Unfortunately, I ate something for lunch that didn't agree with me so I was uncomfortable most of the way. I'm telling you this so you don't get the idea that it's always glamorous, ha ha.
Our hotel is the My Charm Lisbon Suites which is in a great location with lots of restaurants and grocery stores nearby and a Metro stop right up the street.
Our hotel room
Our first stop in town was Pastelaria Corinto for coffee and snacks.
The pastries are a sweet rice cake (front) and a coconut cream tart.
We had a late lunch at Portugalia which is across the street from our hotel.
Bacalhau a Bras, a sort of stew of codfish, potatoes, and onions
Doesn't look like it, but this was dessert. It's called a Fried Egg but it's a salted egg yolk surrounded by sweet cream on a graham cracker crust. Sounds weird, but it was very good.
Fe sitting in the restaurant lobby
We were battling jet lag so we went back to the hotel to catch some sleep and that's about it for the first day. It's going to take me some time to adjust to this slower pace. I'm used to rushing to see as much as possible--I have to remind myself that we have more time n this trip.
