More Valencia Sights (Jan 12, 2025)

Busy day today, following up on what we quickly saw on the first couple of days here.  First I went to see the second existing tower of the original city walls, Torres de Serranos.  Since it was Sunday admission was free!

Front of the towers

The back of the towers, which is how I approached them.

A view from the top.

Another view across the Pont dels Serrans (Serranos Bridge)

Serranos Bridge

I also saw a lot of people (mostly women) dressed up in historic costumes.  It was an early celebration of Fallas which takes place in March, but I didn't quite catch why there were some early events.

Dancing outside the Central Market.

Participants coming through Serranos Tower.

I took the long way back to the apartment and saw more sights:

Valencia goverment buildings, Plaça de Manises

View of the altar

Rose window and church organ

San Vicente Martír, patron saint of Valencia

After Fe and I had lunch, we went back to the Silk Market to take the tour inside.  It was short, but it was only 2 EUR ($2.08) apiece.  I thought it was worth it.

Consolat de Mar

Trades Tribunal Hall (I think)

Courtyard of the Orange Trees

Fe likes orange trees.

Pretty busy day today.  I'm glad we're seeing all these places, but it also brings back memories of having the boys with us in 2017.  I'm hoping they can come back someday--they both like to travel too.

Final Thoughts

It was our first time trying slow travel, and I'd say it was a success.  We learned from our mistakes--mostly scheduling and budgeting--...
