Last Full Day in Bari (Feb 13, 2025)

I enjoyed Bari--it was a lived-in city with a good many things to see.  It was not as beautiful as Florence (to be fair, not much could be) and it wasn't quite as clean but I thought it had a lot of character and it showed an interesting slice of life.  Again, the people were great, the food was good, and we also had great weather.  I think it let us see a bit of the "real" Italy.

Bari is known for "orecchiette," which translates as "little ears."  In the Old Town there's an area where the ladies sit outside their homes and make it.  It was colder when we were here, so many of them were inside doing it.

Ruins of a church in Old Town.

The "I Love Bari" sign.  It would be better at night.

Palms along Corso Vittorio Emanuele II

Moka Pot display.  Luckily, I learned to use these on the trip.

Bari's Sea Wheel (no, we didn't ride it)

Headed back to the apartment to pack our bags for the next stop on our tour.  I'm looking forward to it, but also a little sad because I feel our journey is nearing the end.  I console myself knowing that Fe has a habit of planning our next trip even before our current one is over (she booked the Croatia tour as we were driving home from our Poland trip), so I won't have to wait long for another one.

Final Thoughts

It was our first time trying slow travel, and I'd say it was a success.  We learned from our mistakes--mostly scheduling and budgeting--...
